GEORGIA: "HIV/AIDS Conference: Message of Hope Goes Out to Blacks"

Some 500 to 600 HIV-positive persons are expected to attend the 10th annual conference of the African-American Outreach Initiative this weekend in Atlanta. The participation of people living with HIV is "what makes this conference different," said Michael Banner, chair of the conference planning committee. "It gives people who are HIV-positive a safe place to come and get information and see role models who are living with HIV but not living in the shadows."
